Evidence for decisions that cannot wait
An independent research center working on marine ecosystems, coastal engineering, maritime technology and climate — with the institutions that have to act on the findings.
Our mission is evidence without a paywall. We run long-horizon research programmes and publish every method, dataset and null result in the open.

Research areas
We monitor ecosystem health in the Marmara and Black Sea through long-running measurement series. Three questions sit at the centre of the work: where the pollution load comes from, how oxygen in the water column is changing, and how that change registers in living communities.
Read moreWe study how coastal structures behave under wave loading, using physical modelling and numerical simulation together. The group's output often goes straight into practice: breakwater cross-sections, harbour entrance layouts and beach nourishment schemes.
Read moreThis is the centre's highest-volume line by publication count. Three subjects run alongside each other: ship hydrodynamics, the emissions load of maritime transport, and navigational safety.
Read moreWe study the measurable traces of climate change along the coasts of Türkiye. The questions rest on long-series analysis rather than short-term forecasting: how fast sea level is rising, whether the wave climate is shifting, and how much carbon coastal systems hold.
Read moreThe fisheries and aquaculture line is the centre's newest unit; as of 2026 the posts are being filled and the first field campaigns are being planned. That is why the publication count on this page is low: the line's own output is still forming.
