About this area

We study how a hull actually behaves on the water, not only how it looks in a drawing. Free-running models are released in the basin to measure turning circles, zig-zag manoeuvres, course-keeping and dynamic-positioning (DP) behaviour under controlled conditions.

Captive tests — resistance, open-water propeller, PMM and planar-motion measurements — provide the coefficients behind manoeuvring simulations and autopilot tuning. Every campaign couples measured trajectories with numerical models so that a design decision rests on data rather than assumption.
